Nice to meet you,
I'm the one, hoping to prove you wrong
I'm Tamsin. Scottish-born, Georgia-based. Here for the tea (both kinds), secretly hoping someone offers me a slice of cake.
I'm a Type B who gave up on trying to be Type A somewhere around the time Covid happened. (That said, don't mess with my systems. If you move it, I lose it.)
I'm obsessed with collecting crafts... not necessarily doing them. I make regular attempts at gardening and currently have four houseplants still alive, so I'd say I'm absolutely nailing it. I'm also slightly obsessed with Scottish history and food, and, strangely enough, Scottish food history even more now that I've left the homeland.
At the weekends you'll usually find me sweating gloriously in a bee suit, telling my bees how cute they are. I've also recently started dabbling in pottery, because apparently I needed another hobby.
I love all of those things. But I mostly love my little family. I wouldn't be the person I am without them, and everything I do is for my kids. (And, occasionally, for my own mental sanity.)
I could tell you I'm obsessed with taking photographs, but I'm actually obsessed with catching memories. Yes, I know that sounds a bit cheesy, but stick with me.
As a child, I loved rummaging through photo albums or the photo drawer. Everyone had one of those, right? I'd sit and listen while people told the tales and family lore that went with each picture.
As an adult, I still love looking back at moments I'd completely forgotten about. And I love being the person who captures the photos people didn't even realise they'd miss. The ones that take you right back to a moment. I want you to feel immersed in it, like you're right there again. Feeling the same feelings and remembering the bits you didn't know you'd forgotten.
That's why I photograph the way I do.
Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with posed, prompted or lifestyle photography. You do you. It can still be brilliant fun.
But I want to remember the everyday.
I want to remember the feelings.
So forget the perfect house. Forget coordinating outfits. Forget the awkward Chandler Bing smiles.
I want the day-to-day mess. The clothes that make you feel like yourself. And if that's leggings and a sweatshirt, then so be it.
If you've made it this far, I reckon we'll get along grand.
